This Kona scuba certification course is available for Full-Time Residents of Hawaii Island that can provide a Big Island driver’s license, voter registration card, and/or proof of local employment (18 years of age and older). Open Water Diver Course

The Kona Scuba certification process begins with the open water diver course. Learn about safety, gear, technique, and environment to become a confident and capable diver. Kona’s waters are some of the best diving in all of Hawaii. Take advantage of the natural beauty in your own blue backyard.

Prerequisites

  • Age 18 and up
  • Able to Swim
  • Able to Speak and Understand English
  • Completed Medical Questionnaire
  • You MUST have medical coverage or dive accident insurance

In order to complete the advanced Kona scuba certification course a diver must complete 5 Adventure dives. These specific dives cover different specialties like Navigation, buoyancy and our deep dive to improve your overall competency as a diver. If you’ve already completed a specialty previous to the course it can be used towards achieving the certification. This certification qualifies you to dive recreationally to 100ft.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you scuba without being certified in Hawaii?

Yes, it’s called try scuba diving or discover scuba diving. An instructor can take you diving with minimal instruction.

Is the PADI written exam hard?

With e-learning, you will have the opportunity to take the course at your own pace. Along the way there are several mini quizzes that allow you to test your knowledge. Most people who have read the course information will pass the course. You will have a second chance to re-take the test if you don’t succeed the first time.
