Sarina is originally from Japan but moved to Australia to follow her dream of becoming a PADI Dive Instructor on 2013. She worked as an instructor on the Great Barrier Reef for 7 years before moving to Kona, Hawaii. During that time, she taught over 300 Open Water students and 2000 Discover SCUBA Diving classes. She loves to travel and dive and has dove notable dives such as Great Barrier Reef, Yongala, Stradbroke Island (Australia) Similan Islands, Richelieu Rock (Thailand) Okinawa (Japan) Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia) Great Barrier Island (New Zealand) and Guam, Hawaii (USA). Sarina says she is still as excited to travel and dive as the first time she did it. She loves talking to Kona Honu guest about their dive travels and can’t wait to plan her next trip!
Basketball has been an important part of Sarina’s life for 25 years and no matter where in the world she lives she’s always looking for a game. Sarina trained with and was scouted by a semi professional team in Cairns, Australia. She was also selected to play for her prefecture team in Japan. Sarina says she learned leadership and teamwork skills playing organized basketball along with personal endurance and stamina. These skills help her maintain a safe and fun environment for her diving guests and students.
